Description:
Requirements: Develop a unique, custom-designed free-standing floor rack that holds 4 pairs of skis upright.Compatibility: The ski rack stand should be designed to hold skis of all sizes, including regular, wide (up to 145mm) and cross-country (as narrow as 40mm) models comfortably and securely.
Design: Must have ventilation ports to allow skis to dry and for snow to melt. Must have drainage holes at the bottom to allow melted snow and water to drain out. Rack must stand on its own irrespective of how many skis are inserted (up to limit of 4).
妈terial: Lightweight, durable, non-corroding material. Polycarbonate (PC) plastic is likely most suitable but we are open to others ideas.
Packaging: Ski rack can be knockdown or fully assembled.
Stability: Ski rack stand must be stable and prevent skis from moving or falling over. We are open to having removable extensions that add stability.
Easy Assembly: The ski rack stand should be easy to assemble.
Interconnectability: Each ski rack stand should be able to connect to another ski rack stand. This would allow ski chalets or stores to purchase multiple and have them all interconnected.
妈nufacturing Considerations: We would like to minimize the number of molds that are required. Design should consider the manufacturing process and how best to minimize mold and production costs as well as the potential for complications and defects.
Additional Features: We are open to unique ideas for additional features for the rack stand.
Options: If you have a good design but it works with a different number of skis such as 3, 5 or 6 we are potentially open to this.

For SkiStorageRack1 we made rough CAD drawings as attached. Note we are looking for a unique design, this is an example for reference purposes only.
Format: CAD Files along with STL and STEP format.
First place will continue working with us on the design including full design for mass production.
Wants:
Crtieria is based on satisfying our requirements above. Overall we are looking for functionality, ease of manufacturing and mold development, uniqueness etc.
Don't Wants:
We want a unique design, not a replica of an existing product.
Additional Information
Design & Packaging: (1) Design should minimize packaging volume. For example, do not include parts that protrude that will increase packaging volume but do not add value to the design other than aesthetics.(2) Lower height of the stand with removable supports is preferred over a taller design that will lead to higher packaging volume. Packaging volume minimization is very important.
(3)滑雪板插入我的洞或裂缝nto should would benefit from having something that keeps the skis in place. The skis will be thinner than the hole so keeping them from moving around would be beneficial to the design. An existing competitor has done this if you review the shared design.
(4) Consider that skiis are typically linked together and stored together as a pair. As such, the design should allow for both skis to into one hole or two holes but only a small piece of plastic between the two skiis. The use of two holes with plastic in between is likely a better design as it will keep the skiis more stable and prevent movement.

Do you want to open another contest to get more detailed results?
We prefer a design that can stand on its own and hold 4-6 pairs of skiis. We are opening to different idea showever.

Hi gopinathr1, the rack should be designed to hold 4 pairs of skiis but if you can only do a design that holds 5 or 6 pairs of skiis we are open to that. Each port in the rack should be able to fit any type of ski.

You want one rack to have four ports of different sizes, each capable of housing a ski pair of one particular size, so that a rack can house four different sizes of skis.

On Top Tents
Building prototype for roof top tent that's fits on top cars, trucks, etc., previously I manufactured a fiberglass roof top tent that was much like a clam shell (see autohometents.com). There are numerous roof top tents available, all feature a nylon material as the complete tent or just nylon sides as in the autohome. My design is to utilize aluminum foam panels that provide a total solid surface of top sides and bottom. This design would be a roof top tent taking the idea from aliner.com but without the tow features of wheels and frame. Therefore the tent would fit on top a vehicle and open same as aliner except would require different entry door configuration but keeping light panels. It is for sleeping only so need low profile.
